Dr. Itani grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania with her parents, three younger brothers and family dog. For her undergraduate education, Dr. Itani attended Georgetown University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Human Science and a minor in Cognitive Science. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors and as salutatorian of her class. Dr. Itani was also inducted into the Gamma Pi Delta Honor Society, Gorgas Odontological Honorary Society, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
Dr. Itani continued her education at the University of Maryland, completing her orthodontic certificate and a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences, both with a 4.0 GPA. She was the first resident in the history of her program to be elected as Chief Resident for two consecutive years. She also held leadership roles within the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Upon graduation, she was elected by peers and faculty as the “top performing resident” and was awarded the Edgar Sweren Prize for Orthodontics and the Dr. Robert Williams Memorial Award.
Dr. Itani is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She is also an Align Faculty and Speaker, lecturing nationally to share her Invisalign® expertise with other doctors and orthodontic residents. Dr. Itani is also a speaker and educator for Smile Doctors, the largest orthodontic organization in the country. Additionally, she is a Key Opinion Leader for Invisalign® and Dental Monitoring, helping to advance orthodontic technology and treatment techniques. Dr. Itani has also been named “Top Dentist” by Washingtonian Magazine, the “Best of Virginia” by Virginia Living, “The Face of Orthodontics” by Washingtonian Magazine, and “The Best of Ashburn” by Ashburn Magazine.
Outside of NVO, you will most likely find Dr. Itani on the Peloton or at the gym, having a game night with friends, traveling with her husband, or checking out a new restaurant or cocktail bar in DC. She is also a shoe addict and has an impressive sneaker collection.
