Dr. Sharon Wang’s passion for orthodontics began after her own life-changing experience when she received a new smile. After seeing how her own self-esteem changed after transforming her smile, Dr. Wang knew she wanted to provide others with a new quality of life just like her orthodontist had for her. Dr. Wang was born in South Korea and moved to Northern Virginia with her parents and brother when she was in preschool.
Dr. Wang received her undergraduate degree at the Ivy League school, University of Pennsylvania. Here Dr. Wang studied Biochemistry and graduated top of her class. She went on to pursue her Master of Science degree from West Virginia University and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Wang completed her orthodontic residency at West Virginia University, where she excelled as Chief Resident. She was also awarded the Dr. John H. Dempsey Orthodontics Scholarship and Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry.
Dr. Wang has experience volunteering at local rehab centers including a nursing home rehab in Burke, Va., and disabled children rehab in South Carolina. Additionally, Dr. Wang served as a volunteer for the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC).
In Dr. Wang’s spare time, she enjoys shopping everything Lululemon, lounging on the beach, and overindulging in milkshakes and boba tea. At home, Dr. Wang spends time with her husband and their cat, Denny.
